Sydney lights up

Content
Sydney, Australia will light up from 23 May to 9 June 2014 for the biggest international music, art and light festival in the Southern Hemisphere, called ‘VIVID’.

See the famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge in a whole new light, when they are illuminated with glorious Technicolor designs. Free highlights of the festival include:

Lighting of the Sails
Every night during VIVID, the iconic Sydney Opera House "sails" will be illuminated with an extraordinary 3-D light show. A walking trail from Circular Quay meanders through a gallery of interactive light art sculptures and installations. The grand buildings of the Customs House and Museum of Contemporary Art will also be bathed in light projections.

Harbour Lights
Sydney's famous ferries will also be decked out in lights, their colours computer-controlled by satellite navigation as they pass through the world's most beautiful harbour and past the Harbour Bridge, which will be transformed into a "coat hanger of colour".

Darling Harbour
This popular tourism precinct will light up with laser light shows, dazzling water jets, and 3D projections on water screens to a musical soundtrack.

Vivid LIVE
The Vivid LIVE music program celebrates contemporary music. Some of the most original and innovative artists from Australia and around the world will be performing (tickets to be purchased), including:

• Indie-rock band The Pixies
• The Presets with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in an odyssey through 42,000 years and over 230 songs
• "The Godfather of Electronic Dance Music", Giorgio Moroder
