Odense - The Birthplace of Fairytales

Content
Odense, located on the island of Funen, is Denmark’s third largest city, and the birthplace of fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen. Funen is the second largest island in Denmark, and lies between the island of Zealand (home of Copenhagen), and the peninsula of Jutland.

There is always something exciting happening in Odense regardless of the time of year; festivals, shows, sports, markets and concerts.  Go on a cultural journey and learn about the history of the Vikings and their last King Canute IV. Odense Zoo is a popular attraction with about 2,000 animals and over 147 species.  Odense Symphony Orchestra, Hans Christian Andersen Museum, Odense City Museum (Møntegården), and Odense Flower Show are just a few of the many attractions which beckon thousands of visitors each year.  Rosengårdcentret (shopping centre) with restaurants, fitness centre, movie theatre, and more than 100 shops is certainly worth a visit. There are plenty of beautiful parks and green spaces for walking, relaxing or enjoying a picnic.  A 24-hour City pass is the best way to see the popular attractions at a discounted rate.   For example, you get 50% off admission to Odense Zoo, and free entry to museums.
