The Hostel
Drawing on Cambridge's rich history of amazing scientists and writers, this imaginative hostel has a personality all of its own. Where else can you plug in and write that essay under the gaze of Stephen Hawking, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Stephen Fry - all punted along the River Cam by local artist Anthony Rubinstein? After a £1.4million restoration last year, you can look forward to quality hostel facilities and all the mod cons you need for a city break. We've got a new self-catering kitchen, secure lockers, stylish en-suite rooms and an enviable collection of books to read. Sample our scrumptious homemade cakes, quirky chip buckets and local ales in the Scholar's Cafe & Bar, then chat about 'Life, the Universe and Everything' all night. From its lovingly maintained Quote of the Day chalkboard to its university-themed decor, everything about YHA Cambridge goes the extra mile for backpackers, families and groups. Our staff are always on hand with friendly tips for exploring the city and the hostel's memorable cosmopolitan vibe will make you feel right at home. We've even hosted Sofar Sounds; a secret acoustic gig where we squeezed around 40 people into our cosy lounge.

The Cycle City
Cambridge isn't called 'The cycle city' for nothing and our hostel offers special facilities for anyone bringing their bike. You can relax knowing it's safe in our secure lockers and make the most of our handy cleaning and maintenance stations; complete with spanners, pumps and toolkits. The city is super cycle-savvy and it's lovely to take in the iconic colleges by wheel or enjoy a traffic-free ride in the peaceful Milton Country Park. YHA Cambridge offer a discount on Cambridge Bike Tours, so join them for a fun tour of the city on your choice of immaculate antique bike, mountain bike, or even electric bike. If you're yearning for chocolate-box scenery and the highest concentration of Nobel Prize Winners on one route, take a gentle bike ride to Grantchester and pop in to the Orchard Tea Gardens for afternoon tea. Or if you want to discover Cambridge by foot, there's a free walking tour that lets you follow in the footsteps of Hawking, Darwin and Newton, along with some fascinating facts and history along the way.

Cambridge Life
A thriving student city, Cambridge's creative and scientific achievements make it a top player for exciting festivals and events. The city is home to the innovative Cambridge Film Festival and August's Movies on the Meadows sees hundreds of film fans enjoying outdoor cinema by the river Cam. Bring your acoustic and rub shoulders with some of the best musicians in the UK at the Cambridge Folk Festival, one of the most famous folk gatherings in the world! You'll also find gorgeous places to eat and mingle with the university students and dons all along the picturesque Cambridge riverside. If you love studying real ale, we'll point you to the Cambridge Brew House - they brew their own on site - or The Cambridge Blue with its huge range of international bottled beers. Student fave the Fez Club's mixologists serve top cocktails and their wild club nights have an amazing party atmosphere. Culture lovers can find cutting edge comedy and drama at contemporary venue Cambridge Junction, or see some of the world's best-known musicians at the iconic Corn Exchange.
